Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions regarding backpacks. Should you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us.

How does it work?
The patented ergonomic AIRPACKS system of air-filled bladders in the shoulder straps and lumbar support transfers the weight to the lower back and hips to relieve strain on the neck and upper back.

How do I make sure the bag is fitting me correctly?
The lumbar cushion should rest in the small of your back (backpack) or the top of your hip (shoulder pack).  Adjust the straps so it will rest there.

I have a 10 year old boy; what size should I order?
The key criteria for determining the right backpack is the grade of the student, and the amount of books that are carried each day.

I am worried, my daughter is carrying too much in her backpack. How much should she by carrying?
Most physicians recommend that student's not carry more than 10% - 15% of their body weight in their backpacks. Kids today are carrying too much, up to 40 lbs.

Here is a translation for different weights:

  • 50 pounds: 2.5 to 5 pounds
  • 80 pounds: 4 to 8 pounds
  • 100 pounds: 5 to 10 pounds
  • 130 pounds: 6.5 to 13 pounds
  • 150 pounds: 7.5 to 15 pounds

How do I stop my backpacks from pinching under the arms?
Loosen the underarm straps.

I feel like I am going to fall backwards. Why does this happen?
With other packs, you tend to lend forward to compensate for the weight, so with the AIRPACKS backpack it just might take a little getting used to. If there is an extreme sensation of falling backwards reduce the amount of air in the lumbar cushion.

What makes the briefcase ergonomic? How can one strap be good for me? I thought backpacks were best?
The patented ergonomic AIRPACKS system of air-filled bladders in the shoulder strap and lumbar support of the shoulder bags make them ergonomic. Getting the right fit is very important. Adjust the shoulder strap so that the lumbar support rests on your hip or small of the back.
